When we were planning our trip, we knew we needed to go see windmills. I mean, when I think of Holland, I think about tulips and windmills! We were too early for the tulips, so that left the windmills! The last day we were in Amsterdam, we took a train to Zaanse Schans, which is a neighborhood that highlights the industrial history of this area. We went to a clog workshop, a chocolatier, a weaver, and many other shops to see how things were made back in the 18th and 19th centuries. We even went into one of the windmills – the one that we visited makes linseed oil using just the power of the wind! It was a beautiful place to walk around and we learned so much about the major industries of this area in Holland. I think our favorite stop was the clog workshop, but a close second was the windmill! We saw two cute cats while we were there and of course Mike had to say hi! It was a great way to spend our last day in Holland!
