After almost two years of flying with the Night Hawks, Mike and I decided that 2016 would be the year we’d see what the Day Hawks get up to on their outings! Our first outing was to the Madrona Marsh, which is in Torrance. We’ve been a couple of times to walk around and enjoy a little isolated nature in the middle of a city, and we were excited to go back!
This trip did not disappoint, and I have to say that the pictures I took might be some of my all time favorites! As a landscape photographer, I tend to get caught up in the “grand scenic” shots – the big shots of an entire scene – rather than the smaller aspects. This photo walk was all about the smaller shots, and the first thing we focused on was beads of water hanging on the plants (it rained last night!). Usually, if I were just on a walk by myself, I would have just walked right by this photographic opportunity! Instead, I got down on the ground and snapped away! We had an amazing time, and can’t wait for the next one!
